ZenMed is a topical cream with natural ingredients that is used to treat scars and imperfections caused by acne, eczema, and rosacea. ZenMed also works against body acne and stretch marks.

Proactiv is an entire line of products designed to minimize acne outbreaks. The basic Proactiv package includes a cleanser, toner and lotion. Other products are available but this Proactiv package is the minimum as recommended by the manufacturer.

Because the Proactiv system contains three different products, we will discuss them individually.

Proactiv Renewing Cleanser

A water-based, oil-free formula applied morning and night. The active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide (2.5%), a common ingredient in topical anti-acne preparations. The Proactiv cleanser is light and gently yet effective.

Proactiv Revitalizing Toner

A water-based, alcohol-free liquid applied morning and night. Proactiv toner contains witch hazel and aloe, two botanicals widely used as astringent skin cleansers. The toner helps to repair your skin and prevents the irritation that most acne product can cause.

Proactiv Repairing Lotion

A water-based, oil-free light lotion applied morning and night. Proactiv lotion's active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide (2.5%) - exactly the same ingredient and concentration as Proactiv cleanser. The only difference is, Proactiv lotion is intended to be applied to the skin and left there, rather than rinsed away. Proactiv contains just the right amount of Benzoyl Peroxide. Although, Benzoyl peroxide is a great anti-acne ingredient too much of a good thing can be bad. Proactiv has found a great balance by testing what concentrations of ingredients were optimal for acne prevention and removal. This formula will not irritate or dry your skin but it will remove your acne.

The Proactiv system's active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, is a commonly-used topical treatment for mild acne. Benzoyl peroxide is available in prescription strengths but higher concentrations do not guarantee results. Benzoyl peroxide when dosed correctly has the following effects:

Antiseptic - it reduces the number of bacteria on the surface of the skin.
Oxidizing agent - it reduces the number of comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) through oxidation
Anti-inflammatory - it reduces swelling, redness and inflammation
